Learn, work, persevere, repeat…
I finished my diploma course in CET-HRT at MSU-MSAT but it was not enough to get me a job. So when my friends invited me to enroll with them in FBS NCII at TESDA-LNNAIS, I did not hesitate to join them because I knew that I had a higher chance to be employed outside the country. After I passed the national assessment, I encountered a lot of challenges from getting a passport to showing up in job interviews. It was tough but I persevered until I got hired.
In 2017, I worked as a Waiter at Paradise Restaurant in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a monthly salary equivalent to Php 20,0000. In 2018, I was promoted as Captain Waiter after 5 months working in that same establishment; my monthly salary increased into an equivalent of Php 29,000. I got promoted because of how I performed at work (I was able to apply the knowledge, technical skills and proper work attitude I learned at TESDA-LNNAIS). I was able to send money at home to help my family.
To my fellow Filipino youth, don’t lose hope and continue to dream big. Success would come if you persevere and wait for God’s Perfect Time.
